Solar City Tower - Olympic Games 2016 Rio de Janeiro
Concept
The aim of this project is to ask how the classic concept of a landmark can be reconsidered. It is less about an expressive, iconic architectural form; rather, it is a return to content and actual, real challenges for the imminent post-oil-era. This project represents a message of a society facing the future; thus, it is the representation of an inner attitude. Our project, standing in the tradition of “a building/city as a machine”, shall provide energy both to the city of Rio de Janeiro and its citizens while using natural resources. We hope to attain an international Olympic message with a political appeal. After hosting the United Nation’s Earth Summit in 1992, Rio de Janeiro will once again be the starting point for a global green movement and for a sustainable development of urban structures. It will perhaps even become a symbol for the first zero carbon footprint Olympic Games.

SeV/Scottevest has a new vest called the Travel Vest for Men that might well be the answer to how to pack electronics and gadgets for the frequent traveler. You can fit in your iPhone, iPod, passport, water bottle keys, shades, and a ton more stuff into the 22 various pockets inside and outside the vest. There is even a big pocket designed for the iPad. When you go through security, you just take off the vest and let it go through the x-ray machine. The vest can be had now in black, red, or beige for $100 in various sizes. - SG

Today’s plastic Coke bottles are precariously stacked and take up too much room once they’re empty, so designer Andrew Kim decided to fix all that with this squared-off Coca-Cola bottle concept. Not only can the space-saving containers be stacked and packed against each other horizontally, but they can be stacked vertically with each bottle’s top fitting into the bottom of the container above.
The designer kindly decided to offset the opening, giving you a “more comfortable drinking position.” And when you’re finished with your ice cold Coke, the container collapses like an accordion to a size that’s 66% smaller. - DV

So the Germans have come up with a new way to slang chicken fingers. I’m not sure if the Oval Office or any loyal Ameican would co-sign this but these sticks of processed chicken are apparently a big hit in Berlin. Somebody page the secret service please…

Did you know that an average person visits a toilet 2500 times a year? This means about 6-8 times a day. In the end, every man and every woman spends about 3 years of their lifetime sitting on a water-closet! So how not to get bored during that long time? -BP
